The Bad Snow Storm

Written by Taina Zubillaga

I was about 11 or 12 and it was a cold Thursday night. I was doing homework that was due the next day and it started to snow. I got upset because I was really looking forward to school (at that time I liked school). By dinner time it was getting pretty bad outside. My dad got a phone call from the school saying the school will be closed on Friday. I got a little excitement because I could sleep in. My brother and sister and I stayed up all night and the snow outside was getting worse by the minute. ALL OF A SUDDEN the power went out and we were getting really cold so we had to wear double socks. My brother , sister and I decided to have a big slumber party and took our blankets and pillows to the living room. Our living room was pretty big. My parents stayed with us as well. It was a long night because it was really cold and it was terrifying not having light and walking through the house.

By the next day, my parents weren't able to go to work either. We still had no power and the whole apartment building didn't have power either. We were running out of food so my mom was about to go grocery shopping but it snowed so much that we were stuck in the house. Throughout the day, we played board games while my mom was trying to find something to cook without power.

The street cleaners were cleaning all night. They were letting us know that trees had fallen and it was hard to clean each street. When the streets got clean we walked to my neighbor’s house because she was nice to let us use her bathroom. We wanted to clean up. Because of the snowstorm, the power was out for three straight days. I will tell you one thing, it was one the best three days of my life because we all grew closer as a family.
